ABOUT ME

I’m Helen and I’m pretty obsessed with dogs! Have been since I was a little pup. I started Hounds of Love back in September 2018 after realising I could make working with dogs my career. After falling into the music industry and spending years touring the world with different bands, I went out to figure out what career I wanted to make of my own. I spent a few years temping in offices around London but nothing ever felt ‘right’. Then a number of people sent over an ad they’d seen for a dog walker over in East London and said they couldn’t think of anyone better suited (the dog obsession is widely known!). I spent one long extremely wet day out in Hackney Wick walking a pack of maybe fifteen to twenty dogs for “a trial” and realised it felt a lot better than any hours I’d ever spent in an office. Getting there and back took me around four hours so I knew this position wasn’t one I could take but knew this was what I was meant to be doing. That was a few months before I started Hounds of Love, and I haven’t looked back since! I have just started some behavioural and dog communication courses to get a better understanding of these little weirdos we take in! I've honestly never felt like I was very good at anything till this came around and the more I learn about the dogs the more every just seems to make sense to me.
I take much smaller groups than what I was first introduced to, I want to be able to control as much as I can on each walk and give each dog the attention they deserve. I am insured to walk up to six dogs but rarely take six at one time. Groups range between two and four, occasionally five.
